Storytelling is our obligation to the next generation. If all we are doing is marketing, we are doing a disservice, and not only to our profession, but to our children, and their children. Give something of meaning to your audience by inspiring, engaging, and educating them with story. Stop marketing. Start storytelling.”

Throughout the 2 weeks, students will work on standard repitore as a large ensemble. In addition, they will get to meet and work with our composer-in-residence, Eric Fells!

Composer-in-Residence

Eric Fells

Eric Fells, a native of Little Rock, Arkansas, is a multifaceted musician, composer, producer, and educator. His musical journey began at the age of four with the piano, and over the years, he has expanded his proficiency to include six additional instruments.

A proud alumnus of Parkview Arts and Science Magnet High School, Eric furthered his education at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Contemporary Writing and Production in 2019. His passion for music and dedication to his craft led him to join Berklee's Harmony Department as an adjunct professor in the fall semester of 2023.

Throughout his career, Eric has immersed himself in a diverse array of musical genres, including jazz, classical, gospel, soul, R&B, hip-hop, rock, and pop. His versatility is evident in his roles as a professional arranger, producer, and music director. Notably, Eric has collaborated with renowned artists such as Kanye West, the Black Eyed Peas, and Mary Mary. In 2022, he showcased his talents as a keyboardist during rapper Cordae's Tiny Desk (Home) Concert.

Beyond performance and production, Eric is deeply committed to music education. He frequently returns to his hometown to share his experiences and insights with aspiring musicians, exemplified by his engagements with students at Parkview High School. Additionally, Eric has contributed to film scoring, offering compositions for movies, short films, documentaries, video games, commercials, ads, and jingles.

Eric Fells continues to inspire and influence the next generation of artists through his unwavering dedication to the art of music.

Instrumental Music

In addition to the Large Ensemble, opportunities for small chamber groups will be available throughout the two weeks. Those students will work closely with our faculty artists to refine their technique, deepen their musical expression and understanding, and collaborate with peers.

Beyond music, students will also enjoy additional artistic experiences, including story-crafting, visual arts classes, and a Friday picnic, fostering a well-rounded creative environment.
